The Colorado Music Festival (CMF) runs from June 30th to August 7th at the Chautauqua Auditorium in Boulder, CO.
Chautauqua was established in the late 1890s when the Texas Board of Regents established a six-week summer school and retreat for teachers. The Texans were attracted to Boulder because of its healthy land, beautiful views, good facilities and public utilities. Still today, Chautauqua is known for its picturesque views of the mountains, great hikes and park that is wonderful for community gatherings.
Founded in 1995, the 39th CMF season will feature the Festival and Chamber Orchestra Series, Music Mash-Up, the Young People's Concert & Three Family Concerts and a Presenting Series of chamber music and recital performances. Attending these concerts is a great summer activity and a Boulder tradition for those looking to dive into classical music.
The CMF's mission is "to inspire and connect community members of all ages by providing access to the best of the world's music through education and performance." The festival has received national recognition for its goal to provide music education to all members of the community. It is also renowned for the opportunities it has given 550 students to become educated on quality and creativity in music.
So, pack a picnic or enjoy a meal at the historic Chautauqua Dining Hall before listening to a chorus under the mountains and experiencing a musical experience that is both entertaining and educational.
