Nederland is Boulder County's prime location for mountain living and a small community vibe. Maybe one of the most attractive aspects of this city is its tight bond between neighbors. Almost all of Nederland's residents know each other and they are always ready to welcome newcomers into their "Ned" community.
Nederland, located west of Boulder, sits in a valley that was formed thousands of years ago by a glacier. The city is known for its mining, music, local retailers, music, community events and gorgeous views. The small town comes complete with a public transportation system, a public library, a community center and a visitors center.
Along with its tight community, another benefit of this city is its prime location for Colorado adventure. Located in the mountains, the city is a central location to the Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park. Rocky Mountain National Park is a sight to be seen by Colorado natives and tourists alike. The park spans from Estes Park to Grand Lake and is an outdoor lover's dream for camping, horseback riding, fishing and exploring lakes, waterfalls and Colorado wildlife. Eldora Mountain Resort is also located within driving distance of Nederland and is the closest ski resort to Boulder. If you are looking for a weekend getaway, Nederland is also just a drives away from luxuriating at Blackhawk's casino and resort.
One thing to consider before buying a home in Nederland is its wildfires. Being surrounded by acres of trees, this city has had many wildfires which has been devastating to its residents. The most recent of which occurred in July 2016.
